Burma’s Collective Amnesia by Alex Wagner

Alex Wagner.
Our family turned a blind eye to the country’s violence against Indians in the 1930s. But that pattern of persecution and denial continues to play out in Burma—and beyond—today.

The story my Burmese family told itself went like this: We’d fled the only home we’d known to escape oppression and danger, only to find ourselves in America, strangers in a strange land. But we did it. We made it. And from our vantage across the ocean, we continued to fight for Burma, to support its virtuous freedom fighters with our voices and resources. We were on the other side of an ocean, the right side of history.

These stories were so often repeated, so well worn, that they had very nearly faded into the background, until I noticed a snag—and decided to pull. “We had an Indian cook who made the most delicious curry,” my grandmother often wistfully recalled when speaking of her life back home in Burma. But she offered—always—this caveat: “And he robbed us blind.”

10 Killed In Toronto Van Jihad In Pro-Muslim Canada

A VAN jumped a kerb in a busy intersection in Toronto overnight and struck more than 20 people. Toronto’s Police Chief confirmed that 10 people were killed and 15 were injured in the incident. Eyewitnesses described the horrific scene as the white van jumped the footpath and travelled for more than a kilometre, mowing down pedestrians at speeds of 70km/hr.

An eyewitness told local media: “He was just hitting people one by one, he hit every single person on the sidewalk, holy God I never seen anything like this in my life ... you see it in a war zone. He is going 60 to 70 kms on the sidewalk ... this person was intentional, doing this he was killing everybody ... this is terrorism stuff here.”

The van was finally stopped after a police car approached from the opposite direction, swung into a U-turn and began driving side-by-side with the van. After both vehicles came to a stop, a police officer exited his car with gun drawn.

Trump Wins Again: Fat Boy Kim Stops Nuke Program

North Korea announces it will stop all nuclear tests and missile launches as Trump hails 'big progress': 'Very good news for...the world,' US president tweets

North Korea has said it will halt missile and nuclear tests, fulfilling a pledge made by leader Kim Jong-un ahead of a meeting with Donald Trump. The promised cessation, reported by North Korean state media, represented another apparent concession as the country manoeuvres ahead of the landmark summit. Mr Kim also said North Korea would be shutting down a test site.

South Korea’s president earlier this week said Mr Kim had embraced denuclearising without demanding the withdrawal of US troops from the Korean Peninsula. Mr Trump heralded the development on Twitter as “very good news for North Korea and the World”.

Hindus Raped And Killed 8-Yr-Old Muslim Girl In India

Asifa Bano (8) gang-raped & killed by 8 Hindu men.
SRINAGAR, India -- The girl, just 8 years old, was grazing her family's ponies on a chilly January day in the forests of the Himalayan foothills when she was kidnapped. Her raped and mutilated body was found in the woods a week later. In 2012, the fatal gang rape of a young woman in the heart of India's capital moved hundreds of thousands of Indians to take to the streets to demand stricter rape laws.

But the gang rape, torture and death of a Muslim girl in Indian-controlled Kashmir has seen far different protests: Thousands of members of a radical Hindu group with links to the ruling party have marched to demand the release of the six men accused in the repeated rape and killing of the girl inside a Hindu temple. Hundreds of Hindu lawyers have protested that the men, two of them police officers, are innocent.

Swati Maliwal, chief of Delhi Commission for Women, said Friday she will begin an indefinite fast from to demand better security for women and children across the country, BBC News reports. The girl, who was savaged in the attacks, had enormous eyes, a quiet smile and one name: Asifa. The Associated Press doesn't usually identify victims of sexual violence but her name has been widely reported in the Indian media.

Why Is Democracy Stalled In Myanmar (Burma)?

Suu Kyi is just a politician, not a saint as people once thought.
Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi (left) unfairly takes the brunt of the blame for the nation’s stalled democracy. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi has served as state counsellor of Myanmar since 2016. Although she is essentially prime minister, the country’s struggle to build a democracy seems to have stalled.

There is only bad news out of Myanmar, according to Western news reports. Endless sobering articles tell about the persecution of the Rohingya minority, the flight of refugees to Bangladesh, corruption in the courts, ethnic cleansing, repression of journalists, violence by Buddhists and the murder of a top Burmese Muslim adviser to the government.

Critics argue that Suu Kyi lacks the conviction to do what is required to create a modern, stable progressive democracy. However, that is almost surely wrong. Suu Kyi’s life story paints a wholly different picture. Her character was forged by the assassination of her father, her work at the United Nations, her house confinement for 15 years as a political prisoner, and the assassination attempt on her that left countless supporters dead or injured.

Xi’s Massive Naval Parade In South China Sea

China has announced live-fire military exercises in the Taiwan Strait amid heightened tensions over increased American support for Taiwan. The announcement by authorities in the coastal province of Fujian on Thursday was accompanied by a statement that the navy was ending a three-day exercise in the South China one day early.

Chinese Communist Party leader travelled to the South China Sea on Thursday to preside over what state media are calling “the country’s largest ever maritime military parade,” a series of exercises meant to intimidate rival powers in a region where Beijing has illegally colonized foreign territory.

The Chinese state newspaper Global Times reports that Xi was on hand to inspire the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) with an address on why naval power is more important than ever, as well as to inspect the country’s new naval assets. The parade featured a display of China’s Liaoning, the nation’s only aircraft carrier, which made its debut at a military display.

Locals Resisting Halal Invasion Of Maine By Muslims

(Articles from The MAINEBIZ, PRESS HERALD, & CENTRAL MAINE in April 2018.)

Halal meat business leverages new market opportunities: Businesses in Gardiner and Hallowell see new opportunities in the immigrant Muslim population for growing the halal meat business.

Iraqi immigrant Khalid Zamat, who owns two Mainly Groceries stores, one in Augusta and another that opened recently in Hallowell, sells halal meat, which he gets from out of state.

Joel Davis and his business partner Bill Lovely operate a USDA-inspected slaughterhouse at Central Maine Meats in Gardiner. Now Central Maine Meats has received USDA authorization to bring in a halal butcher to ramp up that segment, the Kennebec Journal reported.

Davis said Central Maine Meats is talking to food distribution companies it has contracts with to supply halal meat to their clients. "We are in the infancy with this," Davis told the paper. "We think there are bigger opportunities in state and out of state as well." Zamat said he was on the verge of striking a deal with other halal markets in the state to provide meat.

Islam Does Not Belong To Christian Germany

Islam has been The Sword of Damocles
hanging over Europe for centuries.
Germany's new interior minister Horst Seehofer has said he believes "Islam does not belong" to the country, in direct contrast with Chancellor Angela Merkel. Horst Seehofer has long been a vocal critic of Mrs Merkel's refugee policies but has now taken up a key role at the heart of her new coalition government.

His comments are seen as an effort to win back voters from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. The chancellor was quick to distance herself from the remarks. In his interview with the mass-circulation Bild newspaper, Mr Seehofer said Germany had been "shaped by Christianity", and that the country should not give up its own traditions.

"No. Islam does not belong to Germany. Germany is shaped by Christianity," he said. "The Muslims who live among us naturally belong to Germany... That of course does not mean that we should, out of a false consideration for others, give up our traditions and customs. Muslims need to live with us, not next to us or against us."

California’s State Censors AKA Socialist Fact Checkers

Fascist State Of California.
California state senator Richard Pan introduces a bill to kill Free Speech, requires state-Sanctioned fact checkers to approve any online content.

Richard Pan is a far-left Socialist senator from California State. He recently introduced legislation to crack down on free speech on the internet. Pan’s legislation would force every online publisher (including all bloggers big and small) to utilize state-sanctioned fact checkers to approve content before it is posted online.

The bill is titled “SB1424 Internet: social media: false information: strategic plan.” It targets social media based in California. But as you read the bill, you see it appears to define social media as any Internet blog, website, or communication.

This bill would require any person who operates a social media, as defined, Internet Web site with a physical presence in California to develop a strategic plan to verify news stories shared on its Web site.

London Now More Dangerous Than New York City

Weapon of choice for killings in tightly-gun-controlled London.
London is now more crime ridden and dangerous than New York City, with rape, robbery and violent offences far higher on this side of the Atlantic. The latest statistics, published earlier this week, revealed that crime across the UK was up by 13 per cent, with a surge in violence in the capital blamed for much of the increase.

Seizing on the figures, US President, Donald Trump, claimed the rise could be linked to the “spread of radical Islam”, adding that it edemonstrated the need to “keep America safe”. “Just out report: "United Kingdom crime rises 13% annually amid spread of Radical Islamic terror." Not good, we must keep America safe!”

Criminal justice experts insisted rising crime in the UK, and particularly London, was more to do with the way the city was policed and blamed the reduction in neighbourhood patrols across the capital.

The Gig Economy: The New Term For Serfdom

UBER is demolishing taxi industry all over the world.
A 65-year-old New York City cab driver from Queens, Nicanor Ochisor, hanged himself in his garage March 16, saying in a note he left behind that the ride-hailing companies Uber and Lyft had made it impossible for him to make a living.

It was the fourth suicide by a cab driver in New York in the last four months, including one Feb. 5 in which livery driver Douglas Schifter, 61, killed himself with a shotgun outside City Hall.

“Due to the huge numbers of cars available with desperate drivers trying to feed their families,” wrote Schifter, “they squeeze rates to below operating costs and force professionals like me out of business. They count their money and we are driven down into the streets we drive becoming homeless and hungry. I will not be a slave working for chump change. I would rather be dead.” He said he had been working 100 to 120 hours a week for the past 14 years.

Denmark’s Plan To Rid Of “Muslim Immigrant Ghettos”

Muslim ghettos (the holes) in Denmark.
In Denmark's Plan To Rid Country Of 'Ghettos,' Some Immigrants Hear 'Go Home': In a move aimed at ensuring an integrated Denmark without "parallel societies" and to protect "Danishness," the Danish government recently released a plan to rid the country in the next 12 years of areas it officially calls "ghettos."

In Denmark, the word "ghetto" is a legal designation typically applied to a neighborhood with more than 1,000 residents, meeting at least two of the following three criteria (though additional criteria are sometimes also applied):

At least 50 percent of residents are immigrants from non-Western countries.
At least 40 percent of residents are unemployed.
At least 2.7 percent of residents have criminal convictions.

Political leaders refer to these areas as "holes in Denmark's map," where Danish language and values are lost to generation after generation of residents. Currently, there are 25 ghettos in Denmark, scattered throughout the country. Of the 60,000 people living in these areas, two-thirds are from non-Western countries including Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan and Somalia.
