Nowadays in Burma or Myanmar everyone knows Aung San Suu Kyi and most people especially the educated ones know very well Dr. Thant Myint Oo the famous Burmese Historian and the celebrated author of “The River of Lost Footsteps: A Personal History of Burma” and “Burma And The New Crossroads Of Asia: Where China Meets India” two widely read books on our Burma.

But a lot of people do not know very well Aung San Oo the elder brother of ASSK and the eldest son of our Bogyoke Aung San. And most people never heard of the name Dr. Tin Myint Oo the dear father of Dr. Thant Myint Oo and the only son-in-law of former United Nations Secretary General late U Thant.

But in the late 1988 the names of Aung San Oo and Dr. Tin Myint Oo (now completely forgotten) were the two hottest names among Burmese exiles all over the world and every non-Burmese who were seriously interested in Burma or who had serious interests in Burma.

Leaking Underground Cable Disrupting Internet in Burma

Internet in Burma has slowed down considerably last few weeks due to a severe power leakage in the overland cable directly connecting the submarine cable “SEA-ME-WE3” which connects Burma to the world.

Yesterday the government newspaper Myanmah Ahlin officially reported in Burmese the current disruption and the ongoing urgent repairs of the leaking underground-cable. Following is the direct translation of that news report.

Burmese Dogs For Dog-meat Restaurants In China

In recent years thousands and thousands of stray dogs in Burma are captured, warehoused, and exported to neighbouring Yunan in China as pet dogs. Exporting live-dogs to China is highly-profitable business in Burma nowadays as there are probably millions of stray dogs in Burma.

But there is a sinister story behind the feel-good headline. All of the exported Burmese dogs end up in the brutal kitchens of notorious dog-meat restaurants in China as expensive dog meats.

The captured stray dogs from all over Burma are kept in horrible warehouses (Dog Go-downs) mostly located in the town of Pa-late in Sink-gai township near Mandalay and then trucked to the border trading gate at Muse by busy Mandalay-Muse trade route.

After five decades of brutal military rule, hopeful signs have emerged in Myanmar. The military has partially opened up the political system and released Aung San Suu Kyi, the iconic leader of the country’s democracy movement, after 15 years of house arrest. Since September 2011, ceasefire agreements have been signed with 11 ethnic groups, contributing to national political reconciliation.

Yet, ending the military’s dominance is just one challenge. The daunting task is constructing a durable democracy in a country with limited civil society traditions and a complex ethnic and religious mix. The difficulty is underscored by the experiences of other multi-ethnic and multi-religious societies that have struggled to build democratic institutions after overthrowing a military dictatorship, with democratically elected leaders disregarding the rule of law.

Islamists in Burma have violently demonstrated what they are capable of by their first attempt to kill or maim our nationalist-monk Shin Wirathu.

They threw a hand grenade just behind him while he was peacefully preaching in his hometown Mandalay the second largest city and the former capital of imperial Buddhist Burma.

The place was the open-air nightly Buddhist-gathering at the corner of Mandalay’s busy 36^th and 85^th streets. Shin Wirathu was delivering his regular sermon from his raised throne last night (about 9 pm on July 21) when two Muslim-looking men on a motorbike rode through 36^th street (between 84^th and 85^th streets) behind the preaching-throne and threw an explosive device – most likely a hand grenade – aiming directly at the back of Shin Wirathu’s preaching-throne.

Kidnap, Rape, and Forced-Conversion of Buddhist Girls

Her name is Ju Ju. Just 19-year-old tenth-grader Burmese-Buddhist girl from the Mar-la-kar-gyan Ward of Maha-aung-myay Township in Mandalay. Her parents U Johnny and Daw Win Kyi were dead and she had to live with her old grandmother Daw Ahmar.

Mar-la-kar-gyan ward is a Muslim-majority ward just behind the Panset Mosque in Mandalay. Older Muslim man Sharban (a) Than Min Oo also lives there with his parents. He is a married man with wives and children but he keeps them at somewhere else so that he could be a pretend bachelor. Our Ju Ju knew him but not that well and she didn’t know he was a Muslim kalar.

No More Muslim Boats: Kevin Rudd Closing Australia

Kevin Rudd has sought to slam the door on asylum seekers, declaring that all boat arrivals will be banished to Papua New Guinea and denied the opportunity to settle in Australia.

The plan, announced by the Prime Minister alongside his PNG counterpart Peter O'Neill in Brisbane yesterday, is likely to cost hundreds of millions of dollars and is aimed at crushing the business of people smugglers.

"From now on, any asylum seeker who arrives in Australia by boat has no chance of being settled here as a refugee," Mr Rudd said.

The naval territorial dispute (2008-2011) between Burma and Bangladesh was not a trivial matter for both nations. Burmese leaders consider that was Bangladesh’s first step towards far larger strategic plan to encroach Burma’s territory.

Bangladesh is just over one-fifth of far larger Burma (55,599 square-miles to Burma's 261,969 square-miles) but nearly three times more numerous population wise (170 million to Burma's 60 million). 

And Buddhist-Burmese do not forget the tragic fact that Bangladesh is slowly sinking and yet her Muslim population still doubling every thirty or forty years thanks to the evil "maximum-4-wives-a-man and minimum-8-childs-per-wife" Islamic practice the norm among poor and backward Islamist-Bangladeshis.

Last year Muslim riots in Sydney frightened me even though I am not easily scared of anything in this world. I thought I’d seen and done the worst in the war-torn jungles and strife-torn cities of Burma. Even the Cronulla anti-Lebanese-Muslim riots in December 2005 didn’t scare me a bit.

But that religious and race riots we witnessed last year were different. They were the beginning of the serious troubles ahead for our beautiful Sydney because of their scary significance as the taste of things to come in very near future as one of the adverse results from the rapid Islamization of Sydney.

Her investigators’ primary target was Slobodan Milosevic, the Serb who led Yugoslavia. Milosevic had claimed that Kosovo’s majority group, ethnic Albanians, treated ethnic Serbs like slaves, and armed forces under his control had waged a campaign of mass murder there, slaughtering more than ten thousand Kosovars.

Colonial apologists are unlikely to agree but in looking deeper to understand the dynamics that continue to rip continents, regions and nations apart, it is the policies adopted by the British in all of the nations they conquered and ruled that are to be blamed.

Myanmar is no exception. Its land was demarcated to the advantage of the British, it flooded Burma with foreign labor giving rise to the question of citizenship and controversy surrounds deaths of Burma’s leader Gen. Aung Sun (father of Aun Sui ki) as in the case of Congo’s martyr Patrice Lumumba and UN chief Dag Hammerskjold and probably many more foreign leaders.

Saudi Princess Charged With Keeping Slaves In U.S.

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Suitcase in hand, the 30-year-old domestic worker from Kenya managed to flag down a Southern California bus and tell a passenger she had been held against her will and believed she was a victim of human trafficking. It wasn't long before a Saudi princess was under arrest.

Meshael Alayban, who prosecutors said is one of the wives of Saudi Prince Abdulrahman bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz al Saud, was expected to appear in an Orange County court for arraignment Thursday.

Alayban, 42, was charged Wednesday with human trafficking. She was arrested at an Irvine condominium that policed searched after talking to the Kenyan woman.

Major Nidal Hassan: Fort Hood’s Islamist Warrior?

The trial of U.S. Army major Nidal Hassan finally began on July 9th, four years after he carried out an Islamic terror attack that he is actually continuing. That is largely because he is representing himself at his trial, apparently so he can further publicize his belief that he was acting to defend Islam.

In response the U.S. government continues to insist that the Hasan attack had nothing to do with religion but was simply a case of workplace violence. 

Many of the 32 surviving victims of the 2009 attack in Ft. Hood are complaining, without success, that they are receiving less attention (and money) for their injuries because they did not get a Purple Heart medal because of the incident. The Purple Heart medal is the U.S. military award for combat wounds and it entitles soldiers to higher compensation and more prompt medical attention.

The decision not to award Purple Hearts to the Ft. Hood victims is at the center of a controversy between politicians (Left-wing Democrats) who are trying to play down the presence of Islamic radicalism in the United States and military leaders who want recognition for American troops killed or wounded by Islamic terrorism.

‘We aired lies’ : Al Jazeera staff quit over ‘misleading’ Egypt coverage. Several employees are said to have left Al Jazeera, which is headquartered at Doha in Qatar.  

As many as 22 Al Jazeera employees have quit since the overthrow of Mohammad Mursi, amid concern over the channel’s alleged bias towards the Muslim Brotherhood and its coverage of Egypt.

Criticism over the channel’s editorial line, the way it covered events in Egypt, and allegations that journalists were instructed to favor the Brotherhood are said to be the main reasons behind the mass resignations.

MEIKHTILA, Myanmar — Their bones are scattered in blackened patches of earth across a hillside overlooking the wrecked Islamic boarding school they once called home. Smashed fragments of skulls rest atop the dirt. A shattered jaw cradles half a set of teeth.

And among the remains lie the sharpened bamboo staves attackers used to beat dozens of people to the ground before drowning their still-twitching bodies in gasoline and burning them alive.

The mobs that March morning were Buddhists enraged by the killing of a monk. The victims were Muslims who had nothing to do with it — students and teachers from a prestigious Islamic school in central Myanmar who were so close to being saved.

In the last hours of their lives, police had been dispatched to rescue them from a burning compound surrounded by swarms of angry men. And when they emerged cowering, hands atop their heads, they only had to make it to four police trucks waiting on the road above.

Another Burmese-Buddhist Killed in Malaysia

At the noon of 6 July 2013 the office of Kanpong Burmese Funeral Services Association (KBFSA) received a much dreaded phone call again. The office in-charge Kyaw Thu answered and the caller a Burmese told them another bad news of finding a fresh Burmese corpse this time at the top of Subang Jaya SS/6C Street.

The KBFSA president San Win and the Malaysian volunteer Dato Dr. Richard Tan immediately called Malaysian police and then went to the site of reported Burmese corpse. There they found May Than the bereaved-wife of deceased and her friends by the body.

Burmese Monks Injured In Bodhgaya Bomb Blasts

Bodhgaya: Two people have been injured in a series of blasts inside the Mahabodhi temple in Bihar's Bodhgaya district. The first blast took place inside the temple complex shortly after 5 am, followed by seven successive explosions.  

Another bomb was reportedly found near the temple, and was defused. Reports say the blasts were of low-intensity and there has been no damage to the temple shrine.

"The holy bodhi tree is safe and there is no damage to it," Bihar police chief Abhayanand told AFP while confirming the blasts and injuries.

There were not too many people inside the temple when the blasts took place. The two injured, reportedly a Buddhist monk from Myanmar and a pilgrim, have been rushed to a hospital.

In the 6th century BCE, Buddhism was well established in ancient Magadha (1) in what is now modern Uttar Pradesh and State of Bihar in India. Over the next 1500 years Buddhism became the dominant ‘religion’ spreading across the Indian sub-continent and beyond to the south, north, east and west.

Even after the death of the Buddha, Buddhism saw rapid expansion in northern and central India. The Mauryan Emperor Asoka (2) of the 304 to 232 BCE period and later monarchs, especially of the Pala dynasty of mid 8th to late 12th century CE, promoted Buddhism throughout Asia through religious ambassadors.

TIME Magazine Was Wrong: Shenali Waduge

There is a common thread that runs through the histories of Buddhist countries; they have all been the victim at one time or the other of aggressive incursions made by people of Abrahamic faiths i.e. Christians or Muslims. This process has not ended. It still continues unabated and with greater ferocity. When prominence is given to “reconciliation” their incursions have yet to be apologized or compensated.

One thousand years ago Buddhist Asia ranged from Afghanistan to Japan. Today countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and South Korea are no longer identified as Buddhist.

Several other traditional Theravada Buddhist countries such as Myanmar, Thailand and Sri Lanka today find themselves besieged by forces more powerful and predatory than their slender resources can match. Their appeal to the call for Buddhist nationalism is a last resort to preserve their heritage, religion and country to ensure history is not repeated.

Thandwe Burning After Muslims Raped Buddhist Girl

City of Thandwe the gateway to Burma’s famous Ngapali Beach is the last Muslim stronghold still standing in the majority-Buddhist state of Arakan after 2012 anti-Mulsim riots devastated other Muslim communities there.

Thandwe escaped the atrocities and destructions fallen on the Muslim communities all over Arakan last year just because of the sheer number of Bengali-Muslims defending their heavily-invested beachfront resorts and tourist trades there.

In Thandwe the Bengali-Muslims clearly outnumbered the native Yakhine-Buddhists and they completely control the pristine Ngapali Beach and most hotel and resorts on the beach.

But the town is now tethering on the edge as a small riot broke out on June 30 and July 1 after a 17 year-old Yakhine-Buddhist girl from Taung-goke was brutally raped by two Bengali-Muslims at the bus-depot where she was waiting for a Bus to go back home.

Coup In Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood’s Morsi Toppled

Cairo (CNN) -- Egypt's military toppled the country's first democratically elected president Wednesday night and reportedly put him under house arrest while rounding up some of his top supporters even as the deposed Mohamed Morsy insisted that he remains the country's legitimate leader.

Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets across Egypt over the military's actions that were decried by Morsy's supporters as a "coup" and celebrated as a "correction" by his opponents. At least eight people were killed and more than 340 wounded in sporadic violence that at times pitted Morsy's supporters against the opposition and the military.

(Reuters) - A British television station will broadcast the Muslim call to prayer every morning during Ramadan to give a voice to Britain's Muslim minority, which has faced a backlash since the murder of a soldier on a London street.

Channel 4 (BBC) on Tuesday announced it would be the first mainstream national broadcaster to air the call, issuing it at 3 a.m. daily from July 9 for the entire Muslim month of fasting. The publicly-owned broadcaster, set up to appeal to minority audiences, will also interrupt its programming four times on the first day of Ramadan with 20-second films to remind viewers of the call to prayer.

Bengali-Muslim illegals caught all over Burma.

Burmese government admitted last week that there are at least 1.8 million Bengali-Muslim illegals (so-called Rohingyas) from Bangladesh in Burma.

Bad news for Buddhist Burma is only about 800,000 of those Bengali-Muslims are still in the Northern Arakan by the Bangladeshi border and more than a million of them have now disappeared into the Proper Burma.

The seepage of Bengali-Muslims (Like foul-smelling sewage from the overflowing-septic-tank called Bangladesh) into Burma Proper is so widespread there is a large group of them permanently camping in our old Bagan the cradle of Buddhist-Burman race and culture.
