Battle Raging at Crucial Town Kyaukphyu in Arakan

(Staff posts from THE KHIT THIT MEDIA and REUTERS on 31 May 2025.)

The amazingly victorious Arakan Army (AA) declared yesterday that they have captured a group of Myanmar Army soldiers led by Lt. Colonel Kyaw Lin Kyaing the Divisional Tactical Commander, near Kyaukphyu.

Because of many rapidly losing battles on multiple war fronts, Myanmar Army is losing so many field commanders they are being forced to send out senior division and brigade commanders to lead the war columns to face the rebelling ethnic armies. And one rebel army like AA has been quickly capturing those senior commanders of Myanmar Army, one after another.

Especially in the besieged town of Kyaukphyu, the demoralized army troops are surrendering and running away from the battle fields. Even in the Chinese projects the Chinese employees are being evacuated speedily to relatively safer Rangoon by private airplanes as their safety at Kyaukphyu is not guaranteed by Myanmar Army or AA.

Myanmar Army battalions defending Kyaukphyu are rapidly being demoralized after their leader Brigadier-General Kyaw Myo Aung the divisional commander of LID-11 was killed on May-26 and now another senior commnder was captured on May-30.

Apparently, the forever losing Myanmar Army is quickly running out of mid-level commanders and forcing senior commanders to fight on the battlefields, leading their shrinking troops facing the overwhelming AA troops.

And the seriously demoralized Myanmar troops are abandoning their posts en masse and some even raising white flags and surrendering their bases to AA without a fight. Without Myanmar Army's ground troops Kyaukphyu will fall even with the army of Chinese war-drones supporting the Myanmar Army.

The question is what China and President Xi will soon do before China’s billion-dollars Gateway to Indian Ocean is lost and other mega projects at Kyaukphyu Town on the Arakan Coast are also lost forever. Probably by airlifting a PLA division of five thousand men to Kyaukphyu will stop the recalcitrant AA from capturing the town with all Chinese projects.

Unlike other ethnic armies, MNDAA the Kokang Army and TNLA the Palaung Army now suddenly stopped fighting the Myanmar Army, AA has been refusing stubbornly to listen to China and not caving in under Chinese relentless pressure to stop fighting.

Only that PLA division coming into Kyaukphyu will keep the crude oil from the Middle East and Russia flowing continuously forever to Yunan via the thousand-miles-long Trans-Burma-Oil and Gas Pipelines. China fuel security will never be threatened again.

Trouble with Neighbouring Bangladesh

Bangladesh has recalled their ambassador to Myanmar after Myanmar Military Government officially complained of Bangladesh’s direct dealing with AA across the border. Monowar Hossain, who had been serving in Myanmar's capital Naypyidaw since mid-2023, was told to return to Dhaka with immediate effect, said the official, describing it as an "administrative decision" without giving further reasons.

Bangladesh's National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman said last week that Dhaka has opened informal communication channels with the Arakan Army, an ethnic armed group active in Rakhine, to maintain border stability.

Dhaka also remains engaged with the Myanmar junta to pursue a long-term solution to the Rohingya crisis, Rahman said, including potential support for a proposed U.N.-led humanitarian corridor in Rakhine. Bangladesh is already preparing for the coming border-war by re-classifying two Burma-border districts, Cox's Bazar and Bandraban, as MODs-Military Operation Districts recently.
