Muslim Man Caned In Singapore For Democracy Grafiti

Singapore was Thursday urged to end the use of judicial corporal punishment after a security guard was sentenced to three months in jail and three strokes of the cane for spray-painting the word "Democracy" on a war memorial.

Mohamad Khalid Mohamad Yusop, 33, was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to vandalism in a rare case of public dissent in the tightly controlled city-state. He sprayed "Democracy'' and a large "X'' on the Cenotaph memorial, which commemorates Singapore's dead in the two world wars.

"Mohamad Yusop exercised his right to free speech and expressed his political views about the failings of Singapore democracy, but writing on a public monument was the wrong place to share those opinions,'' said Phil Robertson, deputy director of Human Rights Watch's Asia division.

India Wants End Of UN Burma’s Human Rights Resolution

United Nations, 26 April: In the backdrop of several “significant” political and economic reforms initiated in Myanmar over the last few years, India has called for the discontinuation of a UN General Assembly resolution on the human rights situation in the Southeast Asian country.

Indian Ambassador to the UN, Asoke Mukerji, participating in a meeting of the 'Partnership Group for Peace, Development and Democracy in Myanmar' here yesterday, welcomed the significant political and economic reforms instituted by Myanmar towards greater democratisation.

He said India would continue to support the steps taken by the Myanmar government towards reform and reconciliation, with reference to pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, release of political prisoners, holding of peace talks with the ethnic groups, including the Kachins and proposal for signing of a nationwide ceasefire accord soon.

Chinese Forces Push Kachin Refugees Back Into Burma

Tens of thousands of Kachin Refugees fleeing from recent fightings between Burma army and KIA (Kachin Independence Army) into China are being pushed back by Chinese Border Security forces into Burma.

In recent past China had willingly accepted the Kachin refugees fleeing Burma into China and even provided with food and shelter and other humanitarian assistances. But this time was different as the obvious result of major drift between Chinese Government and KIO/KIA leadership.

“Before, our people used to run into China whenever the fighting started. But this time China’s closed the border and all the refugees are now stuck on the border. They are in trouble now as Chinese wouldn’t even feed them let alone providing them with shelters like they used to do,” said San Aung the go-between figure between the Army and KIA/KIO.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair gave a landmark speech yesterday calling on the world to unite against Islamism. Tony Blair, the Former British Prime Minister, delivered a keynote speech at Bloomberg HQ in London entitled 'Why the Middle East Still Matters.' In it he described radical Islam as the greatest threat facing the world today.

He argued "there are four reasons why the Middle East remains of central importance and cannot be relegated to the second order."

The first three: oil, proximity to Europe and Israel, whilst important, were not the focus of the speech. Blair rapidly moved on to the fourth and most important reason: Islamic extremism also known as Islamism.

He identifies the conflict in the Middle East as one between an open and tolerant viewpoint and a fundamentalist Islamist ideology. He said "wherever you look – from Iraq to Libya to Egypt to Yemen to Lebanon to Syria and then further afield to Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan – this is the essential battle."

In late 2008, satirical cartoon strips based on the Qur'an and depicting Mohammed were published on an Indonesian blog. The cartoons caused an uproar, including calls for the artist to be put to death, as reported by the Malaysian news agency "Bernama":

(JAKARTA, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- Indonesia was abuzz Thursday over cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad which appeared on an Internet blog, and Islamic organisations protested vehemently against the belittling of the prophet and called for the blogger to be arrested and penalised.

Police have appealed for calm while they investigated the appearance of the cartoons on the blog in Batak, one of the local Indonesian languages. A police spokesman said it had yet to be proven that the cartoons were the work of someone of another religion who wanted to belittle Islam and that the server and blog were not hosted in Indonesia.

Burmese Army Drove KIA Out Off Pankhan Border Gate

NAYPYIDAW – During a clash on April-5 in Pankhan area inside Mansi Township of Kachin State one army officer and two privates were killed in action while six dead bodies and five assault rifles were captured from KIA.

The border area of Pankhan and Pankhan Village itself once was an official border-trading post through which goods both export to and imports from China were flowing peacefully. As a border-trading post Burma Police, Immigration, and Customs personnel were stationed there to manage the flow of trading good and travellers crossing the China-Burma border. 

But in June 2011 KIA insurgents had repeatedly attacked Pankhan and the result was the worsening security situation for government’s activities there. Accordingly Burma Police withdrew from Pankhan on 11 June 2011 and Burma Customs, Immigration, and Border Trade did the same on 5 August 2011.

KOLKATA: With the Maoist and KLO scare still looming over Bengal, security agencies have woken up to a possible terror threat that has sneaked into the city from as far as Myanmar.

It all started when Bangladeshi national Mujibur Rehman was arrested in March for staying at a guest house near Thakurpukur Cancer Hospital purportedly for the treatment of his "relative." The Chittagong resident carried a valid passport and visa and his aide Amanullah produced a voter's identify card from Hyderabad.

However, when the anti-terror unit STF took over investigation, it was shocked to find that Amanullah was neither a Hyderabad resident nor was he a Bangladeshi. He is a Rohingya Muslim from Burma who entered India some months ago. Worse, he had recently received a huge amount of money from Saudi Arabia through hawala channels.

Ko Ko Gyi (53) is well known in Burma as a former student leader during that failed 8-8-88 (Four-Shit) Uprising and one of the leaders of George Soros’ lackey “Open Society Myanmar” a loosely-formed leftwing-Socialist political grouping in Burma now known as Myanmar.

He had been jailed a very long time for his rebellious political activities by General Than Shwe’s  military government and he was released from Insein Prison in 2011 when President Thein Sein’s pseudo-civilian government took control of newly semi-democratic Burma.

He then formed the 88-Generationers group together with that famous student leader Min Ko Naing (King-slayer) and other less famous student leaders from 8-8-88 Uprising. They later formed their “Open Society Myanmar” with the political guidance and generous funding from American-Jewish-Socialist billionaire George Soros’s “Open Society” in 2012.

A Triumph For The Muslim Boston-Marathon Bombers

The two bombers who killed and maimed innocent people at the Boston marathon a year ago had come as refugees to America, from conflicts that America and her people did nothing to cause.

They had been granted the privileges of a law-abiding democracy, including education, health care and the precious freedoms for which Americans have fought in two world wars. Their situation was incomparably better than it would have been, had they stayed behind in Chechnya.

Among the many privileges that they enjoyed religious freedom was by no means the least important. They were able to attend their local mosque, to take part in its services and activities and to absorb whatever lessons it had to impart, without fear of persecution from their Christian, Jewish, Hindu or atheist neighbours.
