Below are the details of the proposal:
1. Rebuild every single building in the U.S.
“Upgrade or replace every building in US for state-of-the-art energy efficiency.”
2. Will end all traditional forms of energy in the next ten years.
The Green New Deal is “a 10-year plan to mobilize every aspect of American society at a scale not seen since World War 2 to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.”
3. Plans to ban nuclear energy within 10 years if possible.
“It’s unclear if we will be able to decommission every nuclear plant within 10 years, but the plan is to transition off of nuclear and all fossil fuels as soon as possible.”
4. Build trains across oceans and end all air travel!
“Build out highspeed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary”.
5. Don’t invest in new technology of Carbon Capture and Storage, just plant trees instead!
“We believe the right way to capture carbon is to plant trees and restore our natural ecosystems. CCUS technology to date has not proven effective.”
6. Mandates all new jobs be unionized.
“Ensure that all GND jobs are union jobs that pay prevailing wages and hire local.”
7. May include a carbon tax.
“We’re not ruling a carbon tax out, but a carbon tax would be a tiny part of a Green New Deal.”
8. May include cap and trade.
“…Cap and trade may be a tiny part of the larger Green New Deal plan.”
How much will it cost?
No estimate of the total cost of implementing the Green New deal is offered by Ocasio-Cortez. However, as Ocasio-Cortez admits, “even if every billionaire and company came together and were willing to pour all the resources at their disposal into this investment, the aggregate value of the investments they could make would not be sufficient.”
She does provide one estimate that the cost to “repair and upgrade infrastructure U.S. infrastructure” alone will cost “$4.6 trillion at minimum.”
How will it be paid for? Don’t worry about that.
Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t provide any insight into how the trillions of dollars in spending will be paid for other than claiming, “The Federal Reserve can extend credit to power these projects and investments and new public banks can be created to extend credit”. But as Ocasio-Cortez says, “the question isn’t how will we pay for it, but what will we do with our new shared prosperity”.

AOC’s “Green New Deal” Removes the Mask From Just Another Socialist/Fascist Face: Just when you thought the ongoing Climate Scam couldn’t possibly get any more absurd in its fantasy-based thought, in steps Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC). After AOC rolled out her “plan” – in the form of a long, amateurishly-written non-binding resolution – ” Dan Kish, distinguished senior fellow at the Institute for Energy Research, described it best:
“A six-page, non-binding resolution marketed as a ‘War Plan’ proves Congresswoman Cortez isn’t prepared and hasn’t done her homework,” he said, “Running the world’s greatest economy on unicorn farts and rainbow stew all run by masterminds in Washington, D.C., is a fool’s errand.”
To illustrate just how absurd, fantasy-based, brutish and non-specific the “plan” truly is, all one need to do is read this short outtake from it:
“Totally overhaul transportation by massively expanding electric vehicle manufacturing, build charging stations everywhere, build out high speed rail at a scale at which air travel stops becoming necessary, create affordable public transportation available to all, with goal to replace very combustion-engine vehicle”
So, here’s the reality of how that would happen. The federal government would bankrupt the country by foregoing trillions of tax dollars subsidizing electric vehicles, while at the same time bankrupting millions of Americans by raising taxes on gasoline and diesel to levels that make it too expense to drive internal combustion engine cars and long-haul trucks.
This will in turn create massive jobs losses and food shortages throughout the nation as it becomes too expensive to transport things like groceries and other consumer goods via large trucks or traditional rail.
Next, the government will have to condemn and seize millions upon millions of acres of privately-owned lands to accommodate all the thousands of miles of rights-of-way for all the new rail lines the socialist nitwits plan to build.
This will bankrupt thousands of family farmers and millions of other Americans whose livings depends upon the use of their private property, but hey, at least they’ll have charging stations available to charge their non-existent electric vehicles that are now even more unaffordable.
All the new rail construction will have to be completed using diesel-fired vehicles since the EV technology to run such massive equipment is non-existent, and oh by the way, we’ll have to build a whole bunch of new nuclear, natural gas and coal-fired power plants to provide electricity to all of those charging stations that – as AOC’s tiny little mind assures us – will now exist “everywhere”.
Oh, and once it becomes too expensive to travel by air – which will of necessity happen long before a single mile of new rail line is built – then places like California, Florida, New York City and Las Vegas – not to mention Hawaii and Alaska – can forget about their tourism industries, right? Right.
Even after the “high-speed rails” are built, who is going to want to travel from, say, Alabama to Las Vegas on a train that, while it may achieve a high-end speed of 250 mph or more (roughly 1/2 the speed of a passenger jet), will no doubt be required by the socialist/fascist government envisioned by AOC to stop 40 times on the way in order to be “available to all”?
This atrocity is not worth any more words than I’ve already spent here. The outline is six pages long, can be foundat this link, and is chock full of exactly the kind of mushy-headed socialist/fascist thought that has been the overriding, driving goal behind the Climate Scam since its beginnings 50 years ago.
