Camouflaging themselves among Rohingya refugees, many Bangladeshi men are taking risky and secret boat trips to Malaysia, seeking work there as illegal immigrants.

Between October 27 and November 7, two overloaded Malaysia-bound boats, which had sailed from Bangladesh with 245 people aboard, sank near the Bangladesh port of Teknaf.

International media reported that the people on the boats had been Rohingya refugees. But after interrogating 28 people who were rescued, Bangladeshi security agents found that almost half the people were Bangladeshis, not ethnic Rohingyas.

Free Press To Be Sacrificed For Political Retribution. Freedom of the media is too important to be controlled by government. The Independent Media Inquiry has proposed just what was expected: an outrageous attack on freedom of speech and the press.

Its 470-page report, written by inquiry chairman Ray Finkelstein and released on Friday, concludes Australia needs a mandatory ''News Media Council'' that would have coercive powers to regulate what it deems is ''fairness'', ''accuracy'', ''balance'', and ''quality'' in the press.

This new independent regulator would have power to compel newspapers to publish responses from people who feel aggrieved. And it would have the power to censor: it could, for instance, force media organisations to delete stories from their websites that regulators feel aren't up to standard.

During a speech at National Press Club on January 30 this year our Socialist Prime Minister Julia Gillard has casually announced the 2013 general elections and nominated the date September 14.

I don’t know what she and her ALP lefties are trying to pull but I think that election date almost 8 months away was sinister as the present Hung Parliament has been dangerously hanging on with the support of forever-wavering Independent MPs for a while now.  

I am no constitutional law expert, so I don’t know when exactly the 2013 general elections will be as Ms. Gillard has a lot of options in her hands for deciding the exact date as long as that date is before or on that Saturday September 14, 2013.

It was on 16 February this year when that pro-Muslim Tomas Quintana (the UN Special Envoy on human rights in Myanmar)  strongly – and inappropriately by interfering with a sovereign state’s domestic affairs - stating that “ I therefore reiterate my recommendation to Parliament that the 1982 Citizenship Act be amended to ensure that all persons in Myanmar have equal access to citizenship and are not discriminated in such access on grounds of ethnicity or religion,” at the very end of his recent Burma trip.

The notorious Shan-Buddhist traitor Harn Yawnghwe (and his EBO - Euro Burma Office in Brussels) is known to have a five years sponsorship deal worth 50 million Euros from Saudi Arabia through OIC to put concerted political pressure on Burma (Thein Sein and Aung San Suu Kyi) to rid of Burma’s 1982 Citizenship Act just to give Burmese citizenship to all illegal Bengali-Muslims (so-called Rohingyas almost a million) by the Bangladeshi border and then some millions more Bengali-Muslims from Eastern Bangladesh by the year 2016-17.

Later it was found to be effective as planned. All was quiet on both banks of the river for a long while. Then the sound of gongs and long drums burst forth, "Mong, sae mong!" The chief of the Shan forces shouted, "Pakamoong! Hey! Jee Hey! Pao Hey!? He was calling the gang in the city under the leader Pakamoong to set fire to the city of Chiangrai. Unfortunately for him this gang was being held in custody in the temple of Wat Phra Singh.

So nothing happened as planned by the Shans. Simultaneously gun-fire began at the bridgehead mixed with the sound of drums and gongs and Shans shouting "Wat Lae! Wat Lae!" which was similar in meaning to the cry of dacoits farther south who would shout, "Ai sua aow wah!" when making an attack. Apart from firing their rifles the Shans shot off fire crackers to frighten people in the city.

A large group of angry protesters has scuffled with people attending a Melbourne speech by controversial Dutch MP Geert Wilders. There were verbal exchanges on Monday evening as about 200 protesters wrestled with those trying to access the venue at Somerton, in the city's north.

The demonstrators took guests' tickets and pushed them to the ground. "What are you doing? This is a democratic society. We're allowed to go in there," one guest told the protesters. Mounted police then moved in, forming a line to try to stop the scuffles.

BHP Boss Quits after Company Profit Halved!

BHP Billiton chief executive Marius Kloppers will stand aside in May, after the company's profit halved.

The world's biggest miner posted a 58 per cent fall in first-half net profit to $US4.24 billion, while the company's underlying earnings - which excludes one-off write-downs and gains - dropped 43.4 per cent to $US5.68 billion.

The result came in broadly in line with average analyst forecasts of a $US5.72 billion underlying profit, according to a Bloomberg survey. BHP Billiton's revenue fell 14 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier to $US32.2 billion, as commodity prices generally softened.

Captain Marqvard Jensen’s bravery is not forgotten, and his name has been recalled now and then through all these years. In 1929 a Dane, Mr. Steiner wrote to The Committee for The Danish Society and told them that the original eight foot tall memorial post at kilometer 130 had fallen to pieces. It bore the inscription: ‘Here fell Captain Jensen in a battle with the Shan’ (translated from Thai).

Mr. Steiner then collected two pieces with the inscription and forwarded them to the Society. He then suggested that the small area where the Captain actually fell, 30 meters from the road should be registered and that a small memorial stone should be placed there. He asked the Society to bear the expenses. Someone financed a small durable memorial, which is still there today.

Recently a foreign friend told Mr. Torben Poulsen, a Dane residing in Chiang Mai, that the inscription on the obelisk of Hans Marqvard Jensen was no longer readable and the stone was dirty. He asked the Embassy for support to renovate the memorial, but in the end found that all he needed was some scouring powder and a bit of elbow grease. He then did the job himself.

The new racio-religious near-riots in Rangoon’s impoverished-township of Tharketa was simply started by heated arguments between the protesting Buddhist Burmese women and a Muslim Bengali woman whose house has been slowly and illegally transformed into a Arabic-language-Madrassa-cum-Mosque.

The Muslim-Bengali woman was reported to have insulted the local Buddhist-Burmese by yelling aloud that they Muslim-Bengalis were building their own mosque since they had a lot of foreign money (from the likes of Saudi Arabia and OIC) and the Buddhist-Burmese beggars were just overly jealous.

Field Marshal Surasak arrived and for months the destruction of the rebels, and many innocent Shans and Lao (as all the northern people were called at this time) was ruthlessly carried out. It was not until September 1903 that the rebellion was officially declared to be over. Heavy- handed the Siamese certainly were, but the north (and the Shans) never again defied the rule of Bangkok.

The three British involved all happened to be founding members of the Gymkhana Club. The Centenary Book has this to say about them.

W.R.D. Beckett. Born 1864. British Consul at Chiang Mai 1896-1903. Transferred to Bangkok. Married Ivy Goring 1911. Leonowens accused him of failing in his duty when he did not leave Chiang Mai during the Shan rebellion. He was a good organiser and the driving force behind the C.G.C. the Chiang Mai foreign cemetery and the Queen Victoria Memorial. Died 1917.

Even though Shans in Thailand are a very large native-ethnic group they seem to be quite docile and happy being slowly turned into Thais by the dominant Thais.

Totally unlike their cousins in Burma where they have been waging war after war against the Burmese majority to keep their racial and cultural identity intact. And even for a separate independent Shan nation as their ultimate political goal seemingly backed by the Thais.

I’ve always wondered what’d happened to the Shans in Thailand for them to be contented with just being affectionately called Thai-Yai (Big Thai) while completely surrendering their ethnic identity to the Thai majority. Then I discovered from my favourite blog the New Mandala about the 1902 Shan Rebellion and how the poor Shans in Thailand were brutally Siamized at the beginning of 20^th century.

Mining Boom Truly Over: Rio Tinto Posts First Ever Loss!

RIO TINTO POSTS FIRST LOSS, PAYS NO MINING TAX. Rio Tinto has posted its first loss under its current corporate structure after recently writing $US14.4 billion off the value of some of its assets.

The world's third biggest mining company reported a $US3 billion loss for 2012, down from a $US5.8 billion profit the year before. However, the loss was due to $US14.4 billion worth of write-downs in the value of its aluminium and coal businesses.

Excluding those one-off write-downs, Rio recorded underlying earnings of $US9.3 billion, which is down 40 per cent on last year's underlying result, but slightly ahead of average analyst expectations which centred on a result around $US9.1 billion.

Islamic College in Australia forces Headgear on Teachers!

TWO female teachers from the Islamic College of South Australia have gone to court to fight against being unfairly dismissed based, in part, on their attire being considered inappropriate.

The teachers were sacked last year by the West Croydon school, which issued a warning to all female teachers - Muslim and non-Muslim - to wear a hijab head scarf or face the sack. One of the teachers has taken a case of unfair dismissal to the civil court while the other's claim is being heard by Fair Work Australia.

School principal Kadir Emniyet yesterday defended the school's policy, which he said he had discussed with all 42 teachers. He said "90 per cent of them are happy to adhere to the policy".

Tarlawgyi Shans Fight Back KIA Terrorists!

U San Wai the patron of Tarlawgyi Shan Village’s people militia is now demanding the army to provide the third batch of militia training for his village as the volatile situation there still requires his village to be armed and prepared to defend themselves against the terrorist KIA.

According to him the first batch of militia training was given in May last year mainly to the KIA returnees, who were forcefully-recruited by KIA Kachins against their will, and the Tarlawgyi village people militia has been formed with them as the core members.

The village militia was further strengthened by more youths who attended the second batch of militia training given by the army’s IB-37 from Myitkyinar in January this year.

Gaza University forcing Female Students to Wear Niqab!

Al Aqsa University, a public university in Gaza (run by Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas since 2006), has introduced an Islamic dress code for women.

After being characterized for more than 20 years by political and intellectual diversity, female students are now bound to adhere to a strict dress code, including an abaya (cloak) and hijab (veil) while on campus. The decision has caused uproar and sparked heated debates.

Dr. Naaman Ulwan, an independent academic and advisor for cultural affairs at Al Aqsa University, revealed to Al-Monitor that he did not know about the decision ahead of its announcement on Jan. 26, 2013. Ulwan affirmed that even if such decision was approved, it certainly complies with the conservative society of Gaza that does not tolerate attire showing women’s curves.

Above statement was the common theme of recent media headlines about Burma’s celebrated debt relief as an Obama’s reward for Thein Sein’s political and economic reforms in Burma. Following was another common statement describing that so-called debt relief by the World Bank and ADB.

Lars Hedegaard Narrowly escapes Muslim’s Bullets!

COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- A gunman tried to shoot a Danish writer and prominent critic of Islam on Tuesday, but missed and fled after a scuffle with his intended victim, police and the writer said.

Lars Hedegaard, who heads a group that claims press freedom is under threat from Islam, told The Associated Press he was shaken but not physically injured in the attack at his Copenhagen home.

Police said they were searching for the suspect, whom they described as a "foreign" man aged 20-25.

Dearborn Muslim Thugs Attack Christian Missionaries

A disturbing video posted Tuesday by The United West shows a small group of sign-carrying Christians missionaries being attacked and stoned at the 2012 Arab Festival in Dearborn, Michigan.

Worse yet, the police took no action against the attackers, telling the Christians they were the problem, instead of the mob who engaged in numerous acts of assault and battery.

The 22-minute video shows a number of attacks made against the Christians by adults and children repeatedly hurling profanities in addition to rocks, garbage, water bottles and crates.

Muslim-Woman Threw Acid at London-Woman’s Face?

Naomi Oni, 20, had finished work at a Victoria's Secret store in east London in December and was only five minutes from home when a woman wearing a niqab threw a chemical substance at her, the London Evening Standard reports.

The store assistant had just got off the bus and was talking to her boyfriend Ato Owede, 23, on her phone when she felt someone walking behind her in Lodge Avenue in Dagenham at around 12.40am.

She said:“I’d been working a late shift and was talking to my boyfriend about what we were going to do for New Year when I saw this Muslim woman wearing a niqab covering her face. I thought it was a bit strange at that time of night, but she didn’t say anything and I kept on walking.

Ship-building Industry in Burma: Tiny but Growing?

It was in late December 1980 when I had the taste of a dirty, noisy, and stinky shipyard called Dala Dockyards across the wide Rangoon River from the City of Rangoon.

I’d just graduated from RIT (Rangoon Institute of Technology) as a brand spanking new mechanical engineer and like most of my graduating classmates I tried to become a marine-engineer hoping that eventually I would end up on a sea-going ship outside Burma.

At that time in Burma under Evil Ne Win’s despotic Socialist-military rule the dollar was the king and anyone who could earn USD was top of the society that had been at dogs for nearly 20 years on the Socialist road to ruin.
