Uzbek Muslim Killed 8 In NYC Truck Ramming Attack

A Muslim terrorist in a rental truck sped for nearly a mile down a popular, bike-only path in lower Manhattan on Tuesday — killing eight people in the shadow of the World Trade Center and then shouting: “Allahu Akbar.”

“This was an act of terror,” Mayor de Blasio declared at an evening press conference. “A particularly cowardly act of terror aimed at innocent civilians, aimed at innocent people going about their lives.”

Sayfullo Saipov, a 29-year-old Muslim immigrant from Uzbekistan, was shot by a cop after getting out of his car at Chambers and West streets with two realistic-looking guns while screaming “Allahu Akbar” — Arabic for God is good, police sources said.

“He was running around Chambers and somebody started to chase him,” said a 14-year-old student at the nearby Stuyvesant HS, which was just letting out for the day. “Everybody starts running.”

Bangladesh arrests prominent Buddhist charity chief: Bangladesh has arrested on terrorism charges a prominent Buddhist whose charity operates in Myanmar's strife-torn Rakhine state, police said Wednesday.

Police said U Shit Maung, 67, was detained as he tried to board a flight to Myanmar at Dhaka's international airport last week. Police only revealed Wednesday that Maung, who heads the Rakhaing Development Foundation, had been detained after allegedly suspicious images were found on his laptop.

"The RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) arrested him over anti-terrorism charges last week from the airport and handed him to us," airport police chief Noor-e-Azam Mia told AFP, without elaborating on the charges.

Violence in Rakhine, likened by the United Nations to ethnic cleansing, has driven more than 600,000 Muslim Rohingya from Buddhist-majority Myanmar into Bangladesh since August. Many displaced Muslims in Bangladesh say the army and Buddhist mobs massacred or raped civilians and razed villages.

The Wall Street Journal confirmed the transfer with foundation officials on Tuesday. “It’s an ongoing process of migration from a hedge fund toward a pool of capital deployed to support a foundation over the long term,” committee member Bill Ford told the newspaper.

Mr. Soros and his dozens of endeavors across the globe have been lightning rods for criticism due to his support of left-wing causes, which includes the Black Lives Matter movement in the U.S. and relaxed immigration policies. The billionaire has also been a critic of President Trump.

Donald Trump was today accused of peddling 'rubbish' designed to provoke 'hate crime' after he wrongly (or rightly)  Alinked the rise in offences in England and Wales to 'Radical Islamic terror'. The US president sent a tweet referring to figures out yesterday showing crime increased by 13 per cent last year and warning 'We must keep American safe'.

Mr Trump wrote on Twitter: 'Just out report: 'United Kingdom crime rises 13% annually amid spread of Radical Islamic terror.' Not good, we must keep America safe!' Figures released yesterday revealed that police forces registered 5.2 million crimes in the year to the end of June - up 13 per cent on the previous year.

But British MPs tore into Mr Trump for talking 'nonsense' and said he is 'spreading fear and xenophobia' by wrongly blaming the rise on terrorism. Others accused him of peddling 'fake news' and pointed out terrorism accounts for a 'tiny' proportion of crime in Britain.

The Rohingya crisis is the legacy of accursed history—going back to Partition-era politics—and the fog of violence clouds the possibility of real solutions. It has been over two weeks since the northern Maungdaw district of Myanmar’s Rakhine state has been convulsed by one of its worst-ever bouts of violence in decades over the so-called ‘Rohi­ngyas’ or ‘Bengalis’.

Unlike in the past, when cycles of violence were sparked by communal incidents, this time it was triggered on August 25 by coordinated attacks on some 30 border posts and an army base by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), now designated by Myanmar as a “terrorist” organisation.

This followed a similar attack on three border posts when ARSA first made its appearance as a still shadowy Harakah al Yaqin (HaY) in October 2016 and the killing of an army officer in November.

A doctor in Michigan was just arrested for cutting little girls. She’s not the only one. Another US Bohra woman who experienced female genital mutilation wrote her painful experience of FGM.  

Last week, an Indian American doctor was arrested in Michigan, charged with performing female genital cutting on two seven-year-old girls. As the story hit the local press and then the New York Times, and as it was shared by George Takei and Nicholas Kristof, my phone kept blowing up with breathless messages and links from childhood friends across the country.

“This story isn’t going away,” said one friend over the phone. We both grew up in the same controversial, secretive South Asian Muslim sect as the doctor, a 44-year-old emergency room physician named Jumana Nagarwala who was born in Washington, DC. “This time, the community can’t just pretend it’s not happening.” Just today, two more followers of the sect were arrested in connection with the case.

Flies buzz around human remains poking through the dusty earth in the Iraqi town of Dhuluiyah, 90 kilometres (55 miles) north of Baghdad, at a hastily-dug pit containing the bodies of dozens of IS fighters killed in 2015. "They should have ended up in the stomachs of stray dogs," local police officer Mohammed al-Juburi told AFP. "We buried them here not out of love but because we wanted to avoid diseases."

At one stage, IS ruthlessly wielded power over a vast swathe of territory straddling Iraq and Syria, but a military onslaught on multiple fronts has seen its fiefdom shrink to a last few pockets. Since the launch in 2014 of air strikes in Iraq and Syria against the group, a US-led coalition says around 80,000 jihadists have been killed. The overall number of dead is higher if you include those targeted by Russian and Syrian strikes.

Over 20,000 Young Muslim Girls Married Off Every Day

LONDON (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - At least 20,000 girls around the world are married off illegally each day, with child marriage often deeply rooted in Islamic tradition despite being outlawed in a growing number of countries, according to new analysis released on Wednesday.

About 7.5 million girls become child brides every year in countries where early marriage is banned, the World Bank and global charity Save the Children said in a report. More than a fifth are in West and Central Africa, where 1.7 million illegal child marriages occur each year, the highest rates in the world, the report said.

The figures show the challenges in enforcing anti-child marriage laws, since the practice can often be entrenched in community traditions and religious customs, the report said. “Laws banning the practice are an important first step. But millions of vulnerable girls will continue to be at risk unless child marriage is tackled head on,” Helle Thorning-Schmidt, head of Save the Children, said in a statement.

Chinese-owned Ghost Towers In Sydney & Melbourne

On a wet, midweek evening when most Australians are home cooking dinner, fewer than a third of the lights are on in the apartments in Melbourne’s Docklands. Most shops and restaurants are closed. The only people passing through seem to be on their way elsewhere.

These "ghost towers," as the high-end residential property with three-bedroom apartments costing almost $1 million have been dubbed, are popular with Chinese investors who mostly live abroad. Their darkened blocks loom as sparsely occupied symbols of a property market where even solidly middle class households have increasingly found themselves priced out.

Now, policy makers are seizing on public resentment and hitting foreign buyers with more taxes. New South Wales has doubled its surcharge when foreigners purchase residential property, and Western Australia has added a new tax as well. More controversially, both the conservative federal government and the left-leaning one in Victoria state that includes Melbourne this year imposed additional taxes on properties deemed to be empty for six months or more.

Myanmar’s Rakhine State has experienced a wave of violence since ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) terrorists attacked security forces on the 25th of August killing 10 police officers, 1 soldier, 9 security officers and several civilians.

The ARSA attacks were clearly timed to coincide with the report before the UN General Assembly of the Advisory Committee on Rakhine led by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. Dr Annan was appointed by the Burmese government to oversee an independent investigation of violence in the troubled region.

ISIS Persists in Vegas Claim, Dubs Shooter 'Abu Abdul Bar al-Amriki': After federal officials announced today that they saw no nexus to international terrorism in the Las Vegas Strip massacre, the Islamic State doubled down with their claim that Stephen Paddock was theirs -- even granting the Mesquite, Nev., resident a nom de guerre.

ISIS claimed through their Amaq news agency this morning that the "Las Vegas attacker 'Abu Abdul Bar al-Amriki' is a soldier of the Islamic State who carried out the attack in response to calls for targeting coalition countries." They claimed he had converted to Islam recently. They issued the claim in various languages, without evidence to back it up.

The special agent in charge of the FBI’s field office in Las Vegas, Aaron Rouse, told reporters, “We have determined, to this point, no connection to an international terrorist group."

Muslim man shot dead at Marseille train station after killing two women in 'terror' attack: Terror returned to France on Sunday as a man shouting “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest) killed two women in a frenzied knife attack at Marseille’s main railway station before being shot dead by soldiers.

The two victims were aged 17 and 20, police said. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the group's Amaq news agency. The attacker, reportedly aged about 20, was armed with two butcher’s knives, police said. He was known to the authorities for theft, drug dealing and other crimes but had not been flagged as a potential terrorist.

Dominique, a tearful witness, described how he grabbed one of the women from behind and slit her throat. “She couldn’t have seen a thing,” she told CNews television. “She was lying in a pool of blood as I ran away. I heard two shots fired. It must have been the soldiers.”
