BRUSSELS (AP) — France’s pro-EU president and the leader of Italy’s euroskeptic, far-right movement jockeyed for the role of chief powerbroker on the continent Monday after elections to the European Parliament hollowed out the traditional political middle.

The four days of balloting that drew to a close Sunday across the European Union’s 28 countries ended the domination of the main center-right and center-left parties in Parliament and established the anti-EU forces on the right and the environmentalists on the left as forces to be reckoned with.

Voters delivered the highest turnout in 20 years, rejecting mainstream politics in France, Germany, Britain and Italy. The results could make the business of governing Europe even trickier, leaving the Parliament deadlocked over key issues to come, including immigration, a major trade agreement with the United States, global warming, regulation of the tech industry and, of course, Brexit.

Far-right and pro-Green parties win across Europe in historic vote: Like bookmakers predicted, the Brexit Party battered Conservatives and Labour in the UK European elections. But it wasn’t just Britain who saw a coming-of-age moment for the eurosceptic far-right movement in the European elections results 2019.

The traditional centrist leaders of Europe have been assailed from the nationalist, anti-immigration far-right and environmental activist left in last night’s polarised EU elections. The continent-wide poll will force pro-European moderates into forging new alliances.

Right now, the main issue uniting those occupying Europe’s centre ground is their refusal to work with far-right groups whose ranks are made up of nationalist parties led by the likes of Matteo Salvini, who has been likened to Donald Trump for his far-right views, in Italy and Marine Le Pen, who faced controversy after saying Nazis were ‘humane’, in France.

US Navy Gone Mad: No Urinals On New Carriers

No urinals on the new Navy aircraft carrier: The new aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford has all sorts of high-tech gear equipped for 21st century naval warfare. But there is one thing that male sailors will notice is no longer available: Urinals.

For the first time, every bathroom on the Ford — known throughout military circles as a head — is designed to be “gender-neutral,” meaning all of the urinals have been replaced with flush toilets and stalls, Navy officials say.

The vast majority of the 5,000-plus sailors who will deploy aboard the carrier Ford are men, as women account for only about 18 percent of sailors in the Navy. Bathroom design experts say water closets with seated toilets are less sanitary and take up far more space than wall-mounted urinals.

India general election 2019: What happened? Results for India's general election released on 23 May saw a landslide victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which increased its huge parliamentary majority.

Narendra Modi and his ruling BJP have swept back to power. The party won 303 seats in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's parliament, bettering the 282 seats they won in 2014 - a performance that not many thought was possible.

A party needs to win 272 seats for a majority in parliament. The BJP's victory in 2014 was the first time in three decades that a party had been able to win that number of seats on its own. Rahul Gandhi's opposition Indian National Congress (INC) and its allies, who only won 54 seats the last time, put up a stronger fight this time but were unable to make any meaningful gains.

Meteorologist takes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to task about climate change message: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to social media Thursday during a tornado warning in Washington, DC, and tried to connect the event to climate change — prompting a meteorologist to call her out for not knowing “the difference between weather and climate.”

The freshman New York lawmaker shared a video on Instagram that showed heavy rains drenching the region and prompted a rare tornado warning inside the Beltway, Fox News reported. “There’s people stuck outside. We need to get them out,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “This is crazy.”

The Green New Deal champion then shared a story published by PBS in March that questioned whether climate change made tornadoes worse and put emphasis on a quote from the report. “Rather than lie squarely in the Great Plains, America’s tornadoes appear to be sliding into the Midwest and Southeast,” the report said.

Vatican Cardinal Warns: “West WIll Disappear” Because of Mass Migration, “Islam will invade the world”. Vatican Cardinal Robert Sarah warns that the “west will disappear” as a result of mass migration, adding that “Islam will invade the world” and “completely change culture, anthropology, and moral vision.”

Sarah’s new book, Evening Draws Near and the Day is Nearly Over, is causing controversy in Europe because it explicitly identifies Muslim migration as a harbinger of the continent’s collapse.

“If the West continues in this fatal way, there is a great risk that, due to a lack of birth, it will disappear, invaded by foreigners, just as Rome has been invaded by barbarians,” said Sarah, adding, “My country is predominantly Muslim. I think I know what reality I’m talking about.”

The Cardinal also blamed the European Union for its “desire to globalize the world, ridding it of nations with their distinctive characteristics,” labeling the move “sheer madness”. “The Brussels Commission thinks only about building a free market in the service of the great financial powers,” he continued. “The European Union no longer protects the peoples within it. It protects the banks.”

Immigration Curbs Key to Conservative Victory in Australia and a Lesson for Trump: Electoral events have a way of keeping mainstream political observers humble, especially when the larger message is the strength of conservative nationalism.

A case in point is the recent Australian election, in which the Liberal Party (in American terms, a conservative party) won a victory over the left-leaning Labor Party.  Some of the MSM outlets that couldn’t hide their surprise included the New York Times: “Prime Minister Scott Morrison Seizes a Stunning Win”; the BBC: “Morrison celebrates ‘Miracle’ win”; and CNN: “Labor loses ‘unlosable’ election.”

In the run-up to the May 18 balloting, the conventional wisdom held that Aussie voters were weary of the constant infighting in the incumbent party—Morrison is the third right-of-center prime minister in the last six years—even as minor parties, yet further to the right, have proliferated.  All that confusion was a formula, the pundits said, for a left-wing comeback.

SYDNEY—Scott Morrison has been re-elected May 18 as Australia’s Prime Minister, securing another three-year team for the Liberal-National coalition following an intense five-week campaign in Australia’s federal election. In a victory speech, Morrison said that it was a victory for all the “quiet Australians,” and promised that the government will put Australians first.

The centre-right coalition is edging closer to the 76 seats it needs to have a majority in the parliament. The coalition sits at 74 seats, with the centre-left Labor party on 66, as the counting ended in the late hours of Saturday, May 18.

The results upended pre-election polls which predicted a Labor victory, though it is unclear whether the coalition can govern with an outright majority or will need to negotiate support from independents. The final result may not be known for some time.

Crickets followed Glenn Beck’s announcement on his radio show yesterday that “Faiz Shakir is Bernie Sanders’ new campaign manager. “Socialists and Islamists are working together for the destruction of the Free Market in the West and Israel,” Beck said. “That’s exactly what I laid out in the last chalkboard I laid out on Fox for the last year.”

“On February 21, 2019, Sanders’ campaign announced its national campaign co-chairs: Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen, Rep. Ro Khanna, Our Revolution President Nina Turner, and San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz. California Rep. Ro Khanna was the first Justice Democrat in Congress.  New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came much later.
