(Translated staff article from THE KHIT THIT MEDIA on 28 December 2023)
According to the leaked telegram sent to the War
Office in Naypyidaw from the North-Eastern Regional Command (Ya-ma-kha) at
Lashio City, just after the surrender to the MNDAA of the Kone-Jyan based
LIB-125 on November-28 all Myanmar Army troops in Kone-Jyan Town in
Shan-North’s Kokang region decided to withdraw from Kone-Jyan Town and retreat
to Tar-Shwe-Htan Town.
The retreating
troops of nearly 500 were from the Miitary Operation Command Division MOC-12
led by the CO Brigadier-General Aung Zaw Lin and the 16th Brigade
led by the CO Brigadier-General Thaw Zin Oo.
MOC-12 columns had the Divisional HQ, the Third Tactical Command, and five light infantry battalions while the 16th Brigade columns had the Brigade HQ and one infantry battalion. And they left Kone-Jyan on December-2 and expected at Tar-shwe-htan in just a few days.
But the leaked
Myanmar Army Telegram reported to the Naypyidaw War Office that by December-8
only 147 troops comprising 23 officers and 99 other ranks from the MOC-12
columns and 5 officers and 20 other ranks from the 16th Brigade
columns got into the Tar-Shwe-Htan Town.
In less than a week the Myanmar Army‘s retreating
columns were nearly wiped out by the MNDAA forces chasing them out of Kone-Jyan
Town. The MNDAA’s Kokang News Media later reported that their forces had battled
the Myanmar Army columns retreating from Kone-Jyan and killed many and captured
the rest.
The Leaked
Telegram detailed the list of officers and other ranks numbering 42 killed by
the Kokang MNDAA forces. But didn’t mention the fate of the missing rest,
hundreds altogether, presuming they were all dead or captured or MIAs. The
translated list is at below.

(Blogger’s Notes: I am really saddened by this post for I was a former Burmese Army soldier and also all those fallen Myanmar soldiers were my people and they could even be my cousins, nephews, and grand nephews as we Burmese came down from a small group of old Burmese ancesstors from China's western borderlands. I blame that motherfucking power-hungry and horribly-corrupt Min Aung Hlaing for sending them to their untimely deaths.)
