Failed Military Coup: Xi Jinping Still in Power?

(Translation of Si Thu Soe’s post from the FACEBOOK on 28 January 2026.)

China’s Paramount Leader, President Xi Jinping, was at the Jingxi Hotel in Beijing in early January when the PLA troops loyal to General Zang Youxia and General Liu Zhenli went in and tried to arrest him.

Unfortunately for the two rebelling PLA generals the coup plot was leaked just a few hours before the raid and the loyal troops of Xi Jinping managed to immediately arrest General Zang Youxia. But just before his capture the 75-years-old General Youxia had managed to contact his deputy General Liu Zhenli.

General Liu Zhenli sent a heavily-armed PLA war-column and rescued his boss General Youxia and took him away to the PLA HQ in Bejing. President Xi Jinping had now fled and hiding inside an underground military tunnel at 600 ft below a fortified Beijing PLA base.

Right now two PLA armoured divisions loyal to two rebelling generals are taking positions at Beijing-West while another armoured division is coming from Shanzi Province towards Bejing. Xi’s loyal presidential guards has blown up the crucial Marco Polo/ Lu-Gou Bridge to prevent that division from entering the Capital City.

Xi Jinping has also issued an executive order to all CCP regional authorities to take control of any PLA units being stationed in their territories. The armed troops of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of State Security have also been posted inside the subway stations and subway tunnels to resist the troops from the rebelling PLA divisions now occupying major cities such as Shanghai.

Chinese Civil War has started abruptly, and US President Donal J. Trump has also sent a large naval task force led by Super Carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt to the South China Sea theatre.
