Kun-Lone is the most strategic town on the west bank of Salween River. The town is the crucial gateway to Northen Shan State’s capital Lashio the heavily-fortified base of Myanmar Army’s Northeastern Divisional Command (Ya-Ma-Kha).
Now the Fortress Kun-lone has fallen and the rebel ethnic armies can march straight into the population centres of Shan State and then to the Mandalay City which is just a stone throw away from the Nay-pyi-daw the lair of mad dictator Min Aung Hlaing. His evil days are now rapidly numbered.
The Battle for Kun-Lone the Fortress Town
On November-1
the battle for liberation of Kun-Lone was launched and MDNAA attacked Myanmar
Army’s military camps and government departments in the town on both sides of
the river.
On November-2
the rebels eliminated all the opposition on the east side of the river and then
they took over the strategic Kun-lone Suspension Bridge spanning over the
Salween River and the assault continued onto the town. They then attacked the
police station, traffic police, and the township administrative offices under
military control.
On November 6th,
after 6 days of heavy fighting the rebels wiped out all the Myanmar Army troops
in the west side and completely captured the town at 10 in the morning. Captured
by the rebels are heavy weaponery including multiple-rocket launchers and 155
mm howitzers, and tanks, armoured cars, heavy trucks, and thousands of assorted weapons.
